Well, I said earlier that I wished to get information one way or the other about U of T, just to end this waiting game ( Read more... )

Everyone keeps saying I should leave North Bay, lol... is the rest of the world really that good? I mean, I finally got an apartment here, lol!

I don't want to teach in Ontario, at this point, mostly because of my bad (BAD!) teacher's college year, but I could try Europe, or something... I'm trying to find a way right now to apply to teach on a cruise boat - see the whole world! Heck, I've never even left Canada, I'd love to see the world!

Well fuck. Sorry to hear about that. Like, really sorry. I think you'd make a great prof/candidate for a doctorate, so clearly U of T is full of bullshit and the entire university is clearly full of people with balls for brains.

Aww... you always make me feel better. *snuggles into*

We'll see what happens. Maybe I'll get a teaching job at a university, and decide to go into... I dunno, a doctorate of basket weaving, or something.

*is just really super frustrated*

It might be worth taking a year or two off and working. A lot of the time, MA and PhD programs aren't just looking for academics, but real-life experience. Teaching overseas might just be the ticket. Plus, it'll get you out of North Bay, which is a soul-sucking hell-hole. (Love the people, can't stand the city.)

I've been rejected from every post-grad. program I've ever applied to, but believe me, there's always another way to do what you want to do. It might take a little work to find info., etc., but there are other ways. You just need to be devious. ;)

Yeah, at this point, I'm applying to overseas teaching jobs, university libraries, seminar leader positions... problem is, there's a 99.9% chance that they'll only take me in History seminars, and I desperately want to go back to English. English is what I'm good at, what I'm passionate about. I'm starting to get really frustrated with even my own work. (Which people tell me is normal, but...)

I guess we'll just see what happens this fall.

*hugs*
