Heartbreaking and heartmending and overall excellent companion piece. I could read your stories about these three all day. You dig into character and past in a way that feels realistic and respectful (i.e. neither glorified nor whitewashed nor milked for angst nor anything except the truth of it.) The ending was perfect. And I would argue that it *is* a nice thing for Dean to be cared for so deeply, even if the reason for the comfort is anything but.

I wish Benny and Sam could have actually met and talked and found common ground -- before the very end, I mean. I think that the Benny who gathered fragments of Sam from broken conversations and the Sam meeting a Dean returned but changed, would have had some very interesting interactions.

Anyway, thank you for the thought-provoking read.
