The Creative Zen Microphoto has almost 4 times as much memory as the Nano-4GB, and is exactly the same price. Although the Nano has a longer battery life (Creative-12 hrs), I don't see what's the problem with charging the battery every 12 hours...it's not like you are going to listen to it all day--even in your sleep...~_~;
Another good option would be the Toshiba gigabeatF11 MEGF11 (D) Digital Audio Player Ver. 1.8 HDD 10 GB Orange. Yeah, the title pretty much tells all--it's an mp3 w/ 10 GB mem, it's orange, and it costs 19,000 yen which is approximately $190 (more or less). (also has a color screen, like the nano) I guess the one major problem would be getting it shipped to the US since it exists only in Japan (I think...I'm not too sure about that) and shipping probably costs ridiculous amounts...-_-;
Yeah, but w/e. That's just me and my bias talking. I'm personally not a huge iPod fan--I don't like Apple...although i do like the fruit, apples. :D hehe Hope you get what you're looking for. ^_^
