Where I live is totally prettier than where you live.

Gawd, I drove a lot today. Or, well, I guess I was in the passenger seat for the majority of said drive, but still.

My sister and I went to the Rangeley Lakes region today with brother's younger son. This is hands-down the prettiest part of my state -- AKA the part with more moose than people. [Yes, aggybird, I'm the untruthful teller of terrible lies ( Read more... )

You totally need to visit Maine sometime after Labor Day some year. The leaves will just have started to turn, and the majority of the tourists will have already gone home.

I need to come visit Fia some day. I have family in Maine, but we're not close enough to justify a visit. I miss some of the gorgeous land up there.

We've got a lot of land, to be sure. I love how uninhabited a lot of Maine is. [Not that most of those areas are uninhabitable, just... y'know. Real estate costs a TON when it's pretty.]

So pretty! I miss New England autumns sooooo much. The leaves don't change in Texas. :-(

Do they just sorta... fall off, or do they stay on the trees year round? My mind is boggled at the idea of leaves not changing, TBH.

So far everything's still pretty green. The weather is just so WEIRD here. There will be a "cold" front that takes the temperature down to the low 50s for a few days and then it goes back up to the 80s. Two days ago I was wearing a sweater and boots. Today, a t-shirt and flip flops. I'm really not a fan. PICK A SEASON TEXAS!

I wish there was a state where it had the weather of New England in early October year round. Sadly, I think that place only exists in Tim Burton's head.

HEY, IT LOOKS JUST LIKE HERE. Except with beaches. Man, fuck you coastal areas! MAH STATE IS SO LANDLOCKED. WE USED TO HAVE OCEAN. BEFORE THE ICE AGE. THAT TOTALLY COUNTS RIGHT? (I make this argument to my boyfriend - who's from NH - and he always laughs at me.)

But seriously, now I wanna go for a hike. :D

Do you have, uh... lakes where you live? Because those are totally lakes. I went the wrong way to end up at the ocean. [ETA] And also? You really, really wouldn't want to go into the ocean in Maine anyway. Further south -- say, around Long Island, NY and downwards -- it feels much less like your toes will instantly freeze and fall off.

I, uh... sure! Of course. :|

Oh, that's what I get for commenting at 2am, haha. How did I miss that? Um yes, we have lakes! But they don't usually have sandy beaches. So I was confused. *headdesks*

Yeah, I'm not sure where the lakes in Maine got sand, 'cause Maine as a whole is pretty rocky. Maybe there was a limited supply, and Maine was first in line because they spent the night waiting outside the venue, or something.

IKR? About once or twice a year I go somewhere in my state to remind myself that even though there's not a lot going on entertainment- or economy-wise in Maine, I don't ever want to leave for good.
