Actually I like this kind of warning *g*, it usually gives one a good idea what to expect and I admit to sometimes searching for stories that are sub!Dean (or bottom!Dean), now matter how much I usually prefer equality between my boys.

I just -- it's one thing to use the terms "seme" and "uke" or "Dom" and "sub" -- but they don't mean the same as "top" and "bottom", you know? That last set of terms just mean who puts what where. It has nothing to do with who's in control. That's what allows power bottoms to exist.

Dom/Sub and Top/bottom definitely don't mean the same, completely agree with you on that. A bottom can be domineering and a top do as he's told by his buttom. You put it nicely with power buttom.

I think uke and seme should totally stay out of slash-fanfic as this goes beyond sex-play while Dom/sub is usually limited to sex-plays, i.e. a powerful, influential person can be a sub just like the nice and quiet guy-next-door can be a Dom.

I think part of the problem is that the lines between Dom/sub and Top/buttom are fluid and many writers go with extreme het-stereotypes and think: he gets fucked ergo he has to be the girl who submits and does as she's told. Not that many of these women would actually act that way or accept that kind of treatment, yet the stereotype holds.

I feel like if more of slash fandom watched porn produced by Falcon Studios, this wouldn't even be an issue. I mean hell, even Queer as Folk proved, over and over, that a guy can take it up the ass and still be a guy.

... the nice and quite guy-next-door can be a Dom.
There used to be a slash guide for female writers, written by a gay man, where he said that one of the power tops he knew was a really effeminate, skinny little man.

As much as I love anime, the best fanfic I read of it is generally written much more like slash-fic than yaoi. :\
