I'm thinking of ordering some of your flowers. I might take a stab at growing some. BUT. Say I just had a planter in the front of my house, is that okay to grow them in? I don't know if they need a large area or a bed or something.

As long as you can plant them a couple inches apart, and push some dirt up around the base of the plant once they start growing so they don't flop over, a planter should be fine. Ideally you'd want to order short varieties, though. My dad recommends "Randolph" or "Little Mo". "Brown Beauty" is short, too.

Okay, I talked it over with my parents, and the general consensus is that you'll be paying an arm and a leg for shipping across the border, PLUS my parents would have to pay one of their limbs to get a permit to ship bulbs to you, so they want me to hook you up with a gladiola farmer in Canadaland. I can PM you the name and address of a guy in Ontario.
