Today's corset is the last of this little run of five. But don't worry, there's plenty more where that came from! As intended, I'm feeling a bit more cheerful for sharing some images. It helps me reflect on my work by viewing it from others' perspectives, so thank you for all your opinions. Also, thankfully, the old school friend who checked my ( Read more... )

Thanks! This piece actually cuts high over the hip at front, but I want to remake it with a low hip. I can imagine it being prettier :-)

Oooh, intrigued about the front :)

That's a relief, i hoped you'd at least be able to salvage the hard drive. It's bad but it's not as bad as it could be.

Thank you!

It's *such* a relief... Still a nightmare to not have my own laptop, but I'll figure something out.

I am really excited to see the quilting!

Have you ever looked at 18th century quilted petticoats? Some of the patterns are really gorgeous.

Thank you :-)

I haven't looked at them in any detail, no... I'll certainly do so next time I want some quilting inspiration!

My favorite site for a reproduction: http://brocadegoddess.wordpress.com/quilted-petticoat/

Also, you might have to find it at the library (That is where I found it) But the Costume society has an amazing 24 page article about quilted petticoats. Most of the pages are just line drawings of all of the designs (plants, animals, mermaids, pirate ships etc.)

Dress: The Annual Journal of the Costume society of America. CSA Series Volume 34 2007. "The layered look- Design in eighteenth-century quilted petticoats"

I'v always been tempted to make a steampunk one. Some kind of train vs. Dirigible battle happening along the hem :)

Ooh, mermaids you say...? I'll check that link out, thank you :-D

Yes, do share if you follow the steampunk idea!

Thanks, you're very kind.

I think it's necessary to push yourself and experiment. That way you learn which ideas you *really* love :-)
