Well, fuck.  Ethan didn't get hired at the ticket office.  Because of his credit.  It's so stupid that a place won't trust someone to handle money because they have bad credit.  Why the fuck do you think they need a job in the first place?!  He has no criminal record and half the crap on his credit report was stuff about ten years old and already ( Read more... )

Wow, that sucks so bad. I didn't know companies did that- rejected applicants for a job based on credit. Unbelievable.
Diana and I feel for you guys- if you wanna have a poor-persons night in anytime soon, let us know. It feels like we haven't hung out in forever, and with lives like ours, we needs friends around. :)

We really should hang soon and more often! I'm thinking Tuesday should be an Animal Crossing blow-out and we should get everyone together.

yeah...I think that is ridiculous as well. I didn't even know that was possible until a few years ago. I feel that type of information should be private, just like medical records. I had a boyfriend who had bad credit due to identity-theft issues in which his persistent efforts to clear his name (and his credit) had been in vain.
Apparently some companies view having bad credit as a moral transgression and if you have it, you are a deeply-flawed individual.
Having bad credit does not lead someone down the path to crime. And I agree with you about "why do they think he needs a job?" If he were a criminal, he would just go steal the money from somewhere; NOT try to get a legitimate job.

BTW, I do not know you, I am a lj friend/college friend of MelodyWenn and I happened to click on your profile after I commented on one of her recent entries on which you had also commented.

Man! Seriously. We finally got the report yesterday that they mailed to him and almost everything on there (out of ten things) were closed accounts that were paid, with $0 balances and they went back as far as 1999! That is just insane. If he had filed for bankruptcy that would only stay on his record for 7 years, so I don't understand why he's being judged for ten year old things.

Awww, yay, well, Melody is awesome so a friend of her is a friend of mine :)

Yeah, I think it's a majorly lame way to judge someone as an employee. If they are qualified, have successfully held down a job in the past, than what is the problem? And seriously, in this economy, who isn't having a problem paying their bills?
