Charlie looks around, but tries to be as close to invisible as he can. He isn't in a tux - at least he put on his blue suit - and he hasn't been anywhere near anything this formal in a long time.
But he always has to see things for himself, doesn't he?
Sallie's not in anywhere near as formal a dress as some of the things she's seen on the women here. She did however dust off a white dress with blue flowered embroidery along the skirt so she at least went with the festive theme.
"Morbid curiosity?" she smirks when she (none too sneakily) sneaks up to Charlie's side.
Sometime much later into the evening, once Alice has shanghaied his girlfriend into dancing again somehow, Edward stole a moment of quiet with a step on to the patio.
He never lost track of where the two were, but he took a moment to listen to how everyone elses night was going thus far, as well. And to take a moment away from the growing crowds.
The voice behind him is still ever gentle, though there's a touch of teasing to her tone.
There's been so many people coming and going, and the night has passed by quickly, but she has no intention of letting Edward sneak off without fulfilling his promise.
(She had come out with the intention of getting a little air and a little peace and quiet herself, though, so she's not exactly going to drag him inside kicking and screaming.)
Edward almost concedes, on first reaction, to point out he did not promise. He acquiesced. But he isn't splitting hairs, tonight, and he feels in a rather good enough mood given how the party has unfurled.
Even for having so many people doing so much in so little space.
He was hoping to run into her. It is, in fact, the only reason he made an effort to come to the party. And make an effort he did, with his pristine tux and carefully tamed hair.
'You look...amazing,' is what he says when he lays eyes on her.
Judging by the way he can't stop looking, he's obviously sincere.
He's getting used to the way her smiles are so brief and knows that something is going right when they turn up at all. So he's pleased, and grins at her, unconsciously smoothing down the sides of his jacket.
Parker has a bottle of water, and extremely dance-tousled hair. And at the moment is in need of a place to rest for a while.
It doesn't take long to find a deep, comfortable chair. Parker sheds her shoes, cooling her bare feet against the patio floor, and contentedly settles back to enjoy the evening air.
The chair she settles into isn't far from Quatre's own, which is why he looks up from his planner as she does so--and smiles. It's good to see people who've been enjoying themselves.
"Danced out?" he asks, sympathetic. He is not, currently, but he knows how it goes!
"And escape the noise," he agrees. "I'm actually impressed by their whole set-up; I hadn't realized that Milliways was so malleable."
A pause, annd "As long as I don't have blisters, I usually soak my feet in epsom salt baths? They should be fairly easy to get a hold of, if you're from Earth. It's magnesium sulfate."

"I haven't been any place this formal in a long time. I think I once withdrew from a poker tournament because they wanted me to wear a tux."

Sallie doesn't apparently expect an answer to this; she continues, "Shi a, this is all a little much for me too - Alice really went all out."

"I actually came t'get a bit of air," she admits, stepping closer. "Your bein' here was just a happy coincidence."

Her eardrums could use a rest.
And sometimes it is nice not to be crowded.

"Thank you. I like black."
She looks up at him, head tilting very slightly.
Several long moments later --
"You are okay, too."
She may, in point of fact, be smiling a little bit.
If only for a second.

'Can I get you a drink?'

She's over in the corner, taking a break from the noise and the heavy heat.
(Hint: just follow the smoke trail.)

"My feet are not going to thank me tomorrow."
She doesn't sound overly concerned about that, though.
"It was nice of them to set this place up. A place to put your feet up, so to speak."
