In a break from holiday tradition we managed to go, well, so far, without one single thing being ste on fire. Not one single thing. This may be a first in the history of our holidays. My rather extreme nervousness around naked flames is thankful, however.

However, my great aunt did die on Christmas Eve, which was rather unpleasant. It is the ( Read more... )

I'm very sorry to hear about your aunt - but as you say at 97 she had a long and hopefully rich life.

I think she did, and in the end it wasn't a great life to lead

My condolences about your aunt, and understanding also; my step-mothers mom passed the day before Christmas Eve, and her's too was more of a relief. She was well advanced in Alzheimer’s and had a tumor in her throat also. Poor thing was not aware of anything. So, I'm right with you on the extended familial duties. Here's luck and peacefulness to both of us!

2010 has been a bitch of a year, and it's making sure to go out in pure bitch mode. My thoughts and blessings to you and Beloved; may 2011 be a grand year for us all!

Thank you. Sometimes quality of life departs long before life itself does, I hope she now finds the peace that left her in life.

Thankee, I'd hope for better thyings for 2011 but it hasn't started well

I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt. Never a good time for this to happen but holidays have to be the worst.

2010 has been a crap year healthwise for my family. I'm really hoping that 2011 goes better - and I hope that 2011 goes better for you as well - work and family and healthwise.

Here's to 2011, may your year be filled with snuggles with Beloved, lots of good food and wine, good friends, and no obnoxious Uncles!
