Ok, updating. I was never going to write in this but I guess I'll try again.

I loved Angel. Let's see if I can cut: ( ... )

Nice.

About Fred's soul - I never saw why we should believe Dr. Mengele (or whatever his name is) just because he said there was "nothing" left of Fred, not even her soul. Bastard's a creep. I don't think he knows. Of course he's going to lie. Maybe he knows enough to know that mystical forces couldn't harness it and bring it back. But I don't think a soul gets utterly destroyed like that.

But in any case, the lie was a gift, from someone who only dimly grasped its power to someone who needed it so much. That's the point where Illyria makes that inexplicable leap. It's similar to what Spike did post-chip, pre-soul, even as far back as the alliance with Buffy in Becoming. Neither Illyria nor Spike should have been able to do that, but each of them has just enough crazy, unpredictable humanity to spark up and change the world.

I missed you on Tuesday. I will be in next Tuesday, mkay?

It was weird how disturbed I was at the idea of Fred fading into nothingness. Not even an afterlife to make me feel better. Maybe you're right! "Fade into nothingness," "not fade away." I told myself the same thing about Fred, that she and Wesley would be together in the afterlife. And I got that about Illyria feeling things, like grief, that she shouldn't have. When "Fred" was crying, was that her, or Illyria? I think it was Illyria.

O.K. see you Tuesday.

Marie
