I'm going to be in Peebles for a wedding on the 29th, but should be free on the 30th, if doing something then fits in with whatever else you've got on?

At the moment I have a big list of options for things to do but haven't really got very far in actually picking any of them so it can be made to fit in :)

I'll get back to you with a suggestion for a place shortly.

Oh, and we're going to be at John Wilson's for New Year, I believe.

Heh. I really ought to get around to announcing that party properly. There's a change of venue to a larger flat, but your guides will keep you right.

I'll be in Cabaret Voltaire on the evening of 29th making an idiot of myself playing a gig.

There should be a number of people you know there. Come along. Drink. Watch me make a tit of myself!

How can I resist an offer like that :)

Cabaret Voltaire it is on the 29th.

Where is that btw as it certainly isn't somewhere I remember?

It's near the bottom of Blair Street, on the left hand side as you go down.

Andrews directions:

"The venue is easy to find. Stand at the Tron Kirk. Fall over, and roll down the Blair St hill. Stop just before you get to the bottom. You have reached Cabaret Voltaire."

I work in the shelter charity shop on nicolson street, just round the corner from the auld hoose. I will be finishing mid afternoon on friday the 29th, fancy making your first port of call a couple of pints? :-)

Sounds like a good plan to me.

I'm currently getting sorted exactly where I'm staying and the like so I'll probably want to drop of bags, etc somewhere first as I'll be flying into Edinburgh from my parent's place in Ireland complete with christmas luggage.

Once I've got that sorted I should have a better idea of what time would be good to get back into town (or if I'll head to town first and then out to drop of bags afterwards).

I think I should be able to get to the centre of town for about 2:30ish so how afternoon are we talking for mid-afternoon? 4ish?

oooh, I'm thinking of finishing between two and three depending on how much needs done and how feckless I'm feeling ;-) I will probably see my assistant has lunch then bugger off to the pub for lunch myself :-) does that help any? to put a firm figure on it I'd say 2.30ish and I can sit in the hoose with a pint and a book till you are de-bagged if that is the plan :-)

In which case I'll just head straight there with bags in tow, grab a couple of pints then take my bags back to be dropped off afterwards. So I'll just meet you straight at the pub from getting off the plane.

Don't know yet as I've only just got as far as planning getting to Edinburgh, never mind anything once I get there :)

Cheers for the party offer, I'll add it to the list of options and post back here once I've got a slightly firmer idea of my plans.

Where is the party anyway, and who is likely to be there other than your good self? Convince me :)

The party is chez Dave M, who lives on Castle Street just outside the exclusion zone. It's perfect for coming out at midnight with a glass in hand and admiring the fireworks. I can email you an address.

Who else is likely to be there? Lots of very cool and interesting people, but I'm not sure how many of them will be people you already know... Thomas, Alex, Andy. Um, Rory might be there. Think of it more as an opportunity to meet really cool new people! For that is what it is. *nods*

Looks like it should be good. If Alex is going then I should be able to get directions from him (or I can ring you nearer the time if that fails).

Emailing me will unfortunately fail as I don't have access to my email when I'm not at home (or using new fangled email devices from work).

Not totally sure if I'll make it for the entire night but will definitely be there for some of it.

If you're in the pub late afternoon on friday then I might be able to visit.

Depending on what time Thomas's thing starts and when I can drop off luggage I may well still be in the pub. Once I get a slightly better idea on the other things going on I'll get back to you with where I'm likely to be.

I'll probably be at the pub until about 5:30 before heading off to meet Steph at the station.

I'm off to go catch my flight shortly so I won't get to read any replies to this until later in the week. It'd be good if you could make it to the pub but if you can't then don't worry, I'm sure I'll catch up with you at some point.
