An argument for the bubble

Ok, just keep in mind I haven't done this in a year and a half. Give me time, it'll get better.

I was never a big fan of Irvine. I only moved here because the job I wanted was in Irvine. Funnily enough, after living here for six months, I think I’ve been approaching the city from the wrong angle.

Having grown up in Studio City, then living in Northridge and Encino, and ending up in Santa Barbara (well...Goleta at least), I'm surprised to say I've since become turned off by LA. Every time I go back it feels like the population has increased ten-fold and impossible to do anything in any reasonable amount of time. Granted, I grew up there, and traffic is ingrained in me. I lived in Northridge, went to school in Santa Monica (a town I loathe), and worked in Hollywood. That's a vicious triangle of a commute, and I don't remember it ever bothering me. But to even fathom doing it now...I'd rather gouge my eyes out. The worst I have now is a slight slowdown around 5 and the Milpas bottleneck. Big whoop.

But you're right, going back as often as I do, LA does feel like its become high maintenance. The city I defended as my home, and the one area I felt was the best (the Valley, the Studio City/Sherman Oaks/Encino area) feels non-functional. The character feels more strained. I don't like it.
