Daniel is aware that he's staring and knows that if Rorschach were to look up and catch him he would have his friend's head for watching him so adamently with what he knows are unpure thoughts. But Daniel is also aware of the tiny noises Rorschach is making that make it quite obvious Rorschach has no desire to look at him for any reason because he is (Dan dares to think) /happy/ with his meal
