Walter whimpers around two fingers as Janey strokes his tongue, and Dan wonders how in the hell he is still alive. It seems like he should have had a heart attack by now, somewhere between the beginning (Janey abandoning Manhattan to sit between them in a diner, weeping all night in a way so piteous that even Rorschach couldn't give in to Walter's schedule and leave in time to sleep,) and the present moment. Somehow he hasn't, and is watching Walter surrender with unbelievable grace. Literally. Dan doesn't fucking believe it, and he's watching it happen. His partner is on all fours, unprotected by clothing, mask, or anonymity, and he looks peaceful. Almost ecstatic as Janey pets his red hair like a cat. She looks over at Dan and smiles like she can read his mind.
