"Do you see that?"
Nicole glances up from her filing, startled. "I'm sorry?"
"Up there. Do you see... her?"
Huh. It's her boss standing at the window, and she has no idea how long he's been there. She didn't even hear him walk in. Mr. Veidt does that a lot, come to think of it, and it kind of freaks Nicole out. Not that she has anything to worry about -- she doesn't have time to slack off and paint her nails -- but she can't help finding it a little creepy.
Still, it's nothing major. And if that's the worst she's going to have to deal with here, she'll thank her lucky stars. She'd been intimidated, at first, never really expected to even get an interview, but she likes it here. It's a step up on the ladder, the pay is more than generous, and Mr. Veidt does seem like a pretty nice guy, in general. At least he speaks to Nicole like she's a human being and not ( ... )

It's one of the junior guys from Accounts -- Nicole forgets his name, though they've exchanged 'hey's in the corridors from time to time. His eyes go cartoonishly wide behind his glasses as he gestures.
"...just sat on top of the trash can and stared at me," he's saying. "Didn't even blink. Didn't move. Seriously, it was creepy." He shudders. "Always preferred dogs."
"I'm starting to agree with you on that," Nicole offers, turning towards him. "A cat ran out in front of me as I was driving home yesterday. And the way it looked at me, Jesus..."
"You didn't hit it, I hope?" The voice comes from behind her, and there's an unusually sharp edge to it. Almost sounds worried, except Nicole is pretty sure Mr. Veidt doesn't do worried ( ... )

She stops short in front of the main doors, though. They're open -- wide open, though they don't appear to have been forced.
"Robert?" she calls, cautiously, peering through, but there's no answer, and when she tries the door of the security office, it's locked.
And there are... marks on the floor. The cleaners obviously didn't show up last night, because there's dirt trodden all over the polished marble, scuff-marks everywhere, as though a whole crowd has rushed through the reception area ( ... )

I love the way you create the tension in this fill, leaving what's happening up the the imagination and putting it mostly in the perspective of Nicole instead of one of the more familiar characters. Nicely suspenseful, a fantastic fill. <3
But a dog, Dan? Rorschach is disappoint. D: Also, the Captcha - "is curse." I swear it knows.

(I figure his reasoning is that if a dog is going to evilly kill you, it will at least be less sneaky about it and probably won't eat your sanity.)
