He's always taken some satisfaction from the feeling of superiority -- the rush of being a perfectly maintained machine, that kind of power, that kind of skill. Not in simple praise but in proving himself. It's why he got into specifically this game. He didn't want to become a scientist, a doctor, a politician, not when he could be all these things at once and more -- he wanted to prove what didn't come easily.
