"Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."
-Peter, quoted in Acts 2:36
I don't know if I have even written this here, but I have been going along to a book club at uni and we have been reading (or skim reading on my part) a fantastic book called "The ( Read more... )

It's so true that people often prefer to ignore reality than to face it..

Actually, I remember before I became a Christian I'd close my ears every time I heard someone talk about death. But I couldn't escape it. People I knew died, or I'd hear it talked about, and I'd pretend that I was sure and that it was okay.. but I wasn't sure and it wasn't okay.

But while we're mentioning books, I'm in the middle of reading The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis and it's fantastic. It's an allegorical story about heaven and hell from the perspective of a man who dies. If you haven't read it before then I'd recommend it.

"To know that the Jesus, as the Christ, and as the Lord with all authority, has overcome evil an will complete it all in the world's renewal fills me with hope and joy beyond description."

Damn straight :)

joe hero? that's what the name translates to.

"the renewal of the whole creation" sounds suspiciously like "re-install univers and reboot"

yes, we have become desensitized to the evils in our world, just as we have accepted traditions and technology.
Can you look at the world around you and say that every little thing makes sence?

Dare i add a comment?

To know that the Jesus, as the Christ, and as the Lord with all authority, has overcome evil and will complete it all in the world's renewal fills me with hope and joy beyond description.

i ask you, (because I have not studied the teachings of Christianity, but have just been exposed to different aspects of it here and there)
1. is this the same as the second coming of christ (i keep hearing in late night tv specials)
2. could this also be interpreted as your heaven, for it is without evil, and
or 3, am i lost, and this renewal has already taken place
but im probably shouldnt be troubling you with these questions, essays to write and things to read,

it is good to see people who are religious and yet, good, kind and rather open minded people, too many have become rather fanatical

i bid you good day, and good luck with your studies
