The idea of a mad woman kept in the attic who sets fire to bridal dresses and houses as an act of revenge, coupled with an early 18th century girl literally living a forest for three days, and a blind and angry bigamist is the best recipe for humour.

And Wuthering Heights? Even better. I quite enjoy reading a love story in which the heroine is dead not a third of the way through the book, so we have to spend the rest reading about a crazy man wailing on the moors.

They're good for a laugh but. What could be funnier than this stuff, especially when it's presented as serious writing?

If Jane didn't write Persuasion, then, yes that would be good (Due to Mr Darcy factor). But she did write Persuasion. So now you will be second best. Haha.
