That is a really good article

As much as I love La Seleccion, I will always put Arsenal first.

I will of course support La Seleccion as they are my favorite National Team and have some of my favorite players but I like Arsenal a lot more

So I guess I am a club supporter more than a national team supporter, but still its really sad that only 3000 people went to the qualifier.

^ I think the article meant Spanish clubs.

Most Basques and Catalans don't really identify with Spain. They want their own seperate NT and they want to be able to compete in international tournaments with them. But obviously the FIFA or the UEFA won't allow that. So many Basques and Catalans look at their regional teams as their own national team. It causes division within the country, but I will say during the WC this past summer, the entire country united when the team was rolling.

I think it must be said that the qualifier was against San Marino, so it's not as if it was a huge game. But compared to the 75000? Wow.

Though I guess I'm used to low attendence with football, living in the land of MLS. :x

Well yeah regional divisions are probably going to be forgotten for the World Cup.

Especially since the players are from all over Spain, not just one area

A friend was just discussing the same topic with me today and it is quite interesting, as it happens only with the Spanish . . . it's a plausible reason why Spain, a football giant, are always the underdogs :(

Country always rules over club for me, though :)
