Dear McNay Art MuseumYou have a stunning collection of art from a wide variety of time periods and styles. You are not the average small, struggling art museum with a couple of good pieces and a bunch of "stuff" by obscure local artists of dubious talent and renown. You have Monet. This is probably why I don't leave the house any more often than I do. My reaction in this case would not have been as low key, I'm afraid.

This is an interesting contrast to the museum tour I took last week at the Utah State Hospital (formerly the Utah Territory Insane Asylum). There were no guards, and I was the only one there. The curator was kind enough to open up some of the display cabinets so I could take a closer look, and then she went back into her office while I went back and forth between the rooms, examining the displays. Though it's a small museum - only a few rooms with an amazing amount of historical stuff packed in them - I got quite a lot out of it. Later, I asked if I could take pictures, and after telling me yes, we chatted a bit about hospital history. Then she left me alone again while I took my pictures. I'd say it was well worth the drive to Provo. :)

And I was wondering, you DID send this to the museum, right? I'm thinking maybe the Director of Human Resources. Or maybe the Museum Educator for Family & Community. Or both. :D

(The website makes the museum look all upperclass and fancy and intimidating, btw.)
