Get Rid of Snap Shots PERMANENTLY on LiveJournal

Oct 26, 2007 13:06

The updates to this post are getting numerous thanks to the kind contribution of other disgruntled LJ users, so I'm moving them to the end of the post. Keep spreading the word; they may be able to stop me if they wanted, but they can't stop us all!

So Six Apart just introduced Snap.com's Snap Shots into LJ, and my god are we all the worse for it. ( Read more... )

Oh and another way to get your content filter in Opera without searching for the .ini file is
tools menu -> advanced -> blocked content

I had a bitch of a time finding the ini file cuz vista uses a different file structure than XP. And after editing the ini file I found it's changes appeared in the 'blocked content' box.

Hey, I have Opera too, but I can't get it to work... :(

What _exactly_ do I type in the Add option there? Cause I tried adding at least 5 different things yet I still see the snap-preview:

- *.ixnp.com*
- *.snap.com/$script*
- i.inxnp.com
- snap.com/$script
and even
- http://www.snap.com out of pure desperation ;)

I've figured it out! I downloaded the latest Opera (v9.24) to test this, so it may be different if you're using an older version.

That worked. Sweet. guess i won't be deleting my LJ just yet, though i'm certainly not spending any money, ever, on lj if things keep going like this.

Also, i've heard that Opera supports some firefox plug-ins, i've never cared enough to really look into it. but it might be something to look into for more elaborate ad-blocking in the future.

and double post silly goose =P
