Thanks! My glasses looked much the same way by the time I got to work.

Canada still deserves a January history holiday! Why should the U.S. have all the fun (well, you know what I mean) with MLK Jr Day. Doesn't Sir John A need a little love? Imagine the 3 day shopping weekend! Gin and other appropriate Sir John A. wares on sale all over the place.

I don't know about your Kingston story, but I have heard a story about a speech that Macdonald was due to give somewhere in Ontario that could only be reached by boat. He was so hung over from the night before that he stayed on the boat, and disappointed all the people who were waiting for hom.

He also delivered some of his best speeches under the influence. I think it was during the Pacific Scandal bribery case when he gave an absolutely stellar speech in his own defense, a real filibuster on the floor of Parliament, when he watered himself not with water, but with gin.

At another time, when he was debating a political rival out on the campaign trail, he threw up in the middle of a speech, and said that it wasn't the drink, but the after-effects of what his opponent had said that laid him low.

If we ever do a great Canadian roadtrip, we have to hit all of the Sir John A. spots. I've only ever been through Kingston on the train.

And I still want one of those action figures. They make Sirs Isaac Brock and Wilfred Laurier now. Yay! Oscar could have a fleet of friends!
