I love the Devlin series. I just preordered the latest. There is one that descends too far into overblown romance (I can't remember which) but over all I really like Devlin
I bet I heard about the book from you then. I really am enjoying the book and the characters. I can do without the romance, but since it's almost impossible to find a book without it, I suffer though. LOL
After awhile you want to punch him over Kate. I could do without that whole subplot (it'll be with you forever in this series but not maybe in a way you'll expect)
I'm really enjoying the St. Cyr book. I'm 3/4 through, and I think I've pegged the killer, but I really like this character quite a bit. Definitely will read the next in the series.
You know, I think I've read The Big Sleep before but the book is not in my personal library, so I can't be sure. I've certainly see the movie a million times. :-)
I am a major fan of The Big Sleep. I assume that you have seen the movies. There are actually two versions of the Bogart/Bacall version, one was edited purportedly to make it more commercially viable. I've seen them both and I've read the book many times. The book has a very convoluted plot. Chandler was asked, at one point, who killed the chauffeur. He replied, that he wasn't sure. (Paraphrase)
If you like mysteries, I have just discovered a new to me writer Leonardo Padura, who is a Cuban living and working in Cuba. He has a police procedural series called Havana Quartet . They were issued out of order in English for unknown reasons. If you look for them in the library, the correct order is (Havana Blue, Gold, Red and Black). I just finished Havana Blue and just received Havana Gold.
Yes, I've seen the movie, and actually own it as part of the Bogie/Bacall collection. I'm thinking I read the book many years ago, but since I can't remember for sure, it'll be shiny and new to me. :-)
