I don't think I've ever read Uncle Tom's cabin either. I know a lot about it, but I think I've just absorbed that info over the years.

And yes, I'd say something a tad lighter next, LOL!

Same with me re: UTC. We all know about Simon Lagree, and Little Eva, and Topsy, and, of course, Tom, but I really didn't know much about the actual story. There's so much more there that I thought there would be, and for the most part it's very well written.

And after getting about halfway through it, it makes me want to smack the people that use Uncle Tom as a pejorative even harder than I did before. LOL

Yeah, totally needed. I forgot to add to that list that I *am* reading a cozy at bedtime; Presence of Mind by Fred Hunter. I like to read something fairly light before lights out, and this fits the bill. A Chicago detective and a 70ish old lady working on a series of murders. Fun read. Unfortunately, the series is out of print so I may never get to read another unless I find one at a yard sale.
