In Revolution, I'm pretty sure mom (Elizabeth Mitchell) is not dead. It's assumed she is, but I think they just said 'she left the community and never came back so we think she's dead'. I don't think EM would sign up for just one ep or flashbacks.
I like it well enough but, yeah, too clean and coifed and well-fed. For a really dark and more realistic (imo) look at the power going out forever, read S.M. Stirling's "Dies the Fire" (and its seven?eight? sequels).
Well, I'd certainly like to see more of EM. It does seem a waste of her talent for her to be around for, what, five minutes?
The only reason I can think of musket-like guns is that you can forge lead balls easier than the bullets required for more modern guns without power. Or the higher caliber weapons have all been confiscated by the various warlords. Or because it looks really cool and old skool. LOL
I've seen the Stirling novels recommended more than once, so I just went and put the first one on my library wishlist for a Kindle download. I'll get it once I get two or three of the books I already have out read and returned. Thanks! :-)
I wasn't thrilled with Revolution either. What about solar and/or wind power? None of the characters appealed to me. And they all seem pretty well dressed and made up for people living in such supposedly rough conditions, lol.
I'll give it another go, but if there is not a vast improvement, I won't keep watching.
Yeah, for a pilot I thought it was pretty bland. I just didn't connect with the people and don't care enough about either of the kids to follow their adventure. It could get better, but it's quite possible I won't be there to see it.

And why only musket like guns? M16s don't work?
