How I read and a question on synonyms....

I've begun buying books for the Fall Quarter. This history class is going to be a bit intensive as I've bought 3 out of 4 books and so far have 580 pages of reading on the Minority Experience ahead of me. One, I'm not particular an easy heavy content reader...how-to books OK, Socrates, well, honestly not for me unless in shorter digestable

Or maybe synonyms aren't exactly identical but add emphasis in different aspects of the same ideaI think you've nailed it here. Each of your examples can be teased apart into subtly different meanings - I think any pair of synonyms probably can (though perhaps some synonyms, especially concrete nouns, don't have this problem. I can't think of one right now, but it would not surprise me to see two words that refer to exactly the same object, because objects are in some ways the simplest sort of things we refer to with language
