The fundamental problems you have with Scandal continue to be problems. Sister and I hate-watched for awhile, we abandoned ship after season one.

I just happened to stumble on this entry by clicking on one of the friends lists on a community we both watch, but I just wanted to say that CCTV footage of streets (haven't seen the Scandal episode in question, so I don't know if that applies) is not really a thing in the US like it is in the UK. You can get *some* video footage, like from convenience stores (if their camera is working that is), occasionally ATMs, banks, and traffic cameras - primarily used to catch people who run red lights. Occasionally some buildings will have CCTV of hallways/entrances, but I don't think it's very widespread. I don't think any major cities have UK-style street CCTV, but I could be wrong.

Out of your list I only watch Brooklyn 99, but I am not looking at that part, b/c I haven't watched the latest ep yet. ;-)

*slowly creeping back out of this post XD *

I am pretty sure I've seen your name around, so hello! Nice to 'meet' you. :)

I did in fact know that! London is the most CCTV-d place in the world I believe. But in the episode, there IS camera footage (from a bank) and it's played like Only The Heroes Would Be Able To Find That Footage And Use It To Prove The Guy's Innocence. Which... did not ring true for me!

And Brooklyn 99 is awesome so I would not wish to spoil you! :D

Hee. *secret handshake*

It does sound like it just gets soapier, for sure. I think a lot of it is not just it being a black woman in the lead role, though, but also that Kerry Washington really is fantastic. Like, the ep I saw was completely implausible, but she is so charming that it's actually hard to realise just HOW implausible until afterwards. And it explains a LOT if it's made by the same people as make Grey's Anatomy, which I had similar problems with...

I'm glad to hear you say this - I tried watching Scandal and couldn't get beyond the first episode as well. The writing was kinda embarrassingly bad and not in the good way - more like 'the CW attempts its own version of Damages' way.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is really enjoyable, but one of those shows where I'll marathon five or six episodes and then forget about it for a month. I need to catch up!

Scandal gets sooooooo much better. Trust me - I was not at all convinced either, at first. The whole 'Gladiators in suits' thing is cheese on a stick, and, fortunately, they stop using that line quite so much. As it unfolds it gets more complex and more interesting. Everyone has a back story that slowly unsurfaces and explains why it is they are all so completely dedicated to Olivia, and what she does to solve problems gets more impressive ( ... )
