Booklog 2: Rearranging the landscape of literature with a tractor

Feb 27, 2014 12:21

I read quite a lot this month; I had a bit more time on public transport etc than I was expecting, and also, yay books. I am not going to finish my current book by tomorrow, and also I need SOMETHING to do while I can’t watch the series premiere of The Americans! (Soon, my pretty, soooooon.)

So, booklog.

Did you know thay there are two further Emily books, Emily Climbs and Emily's Quest? I don't reread these as often as I do Jane of Lantern Hill and Anne of the Island, but I remember enjoying them. But yes, ick moments with wotsisname. Isn't she about twelve when they first meet?

I went to PEI about four years ago and it was wonderful. Wetter than the books, but the sand is just as red. http://bookwormsarah.livejournal.com/282824.html

I did not know that! So is the implication that she'll grow up and they'll get together followed through on, then? Cause yeah, she is literally twelve at the time!

And oh, I am quite jealous of the PEI. I'm still sad I didn;t get to go when I was living in Canada. I should have just pushed it until it happened, dammit.

I'm not going to spoil them for you! The books have their moments, both lovely and frustrating. Have you read Pat of Silver Bush and the sequel Mistress Pat? My least favourite LMMs, but the ending of the second book is highly satisfying.

Whereabouts in Canada did you live? I spent a couple of months working in Vancouver a decade ago and would love to go back.

I haven't! I will clearly have to keep an eye out for those, too!

I lived in Toronto (I took the picture in this icon, and I am still rather too pleased about that :D ). I'd totally go back too. It was fantastic.
