Those Martian pictures are--you know, I don't even have the words to describe the feeling I have looking at avalanches and whirlwinds on another planet--just. Wow. Really, really wow.

Dude, seriously. I can't even - those are millions of miles away! That's another planet! What do you even do with knowledge like that? Man.

I know! I mean, it's weather, happening on another planet! (not to discount the frankly amazing weather patterns on the gas giants but--they are not like Earth in any way, whereas Mars? Mars is totally recognisable as something approaching habitable space, and they have pictures of whirlwinds happening on it!)

That size comparison thing is amazing no matter how many times I look at it. It's easy to forget just how teensy tiny we are until it gets throw into perspective like that. And Mars - those pictures are stunning in a way that's almost eerie.

Totally agree about Arthur. I also really loved that he knew to already start getting Merlin out of the way, like, instinctively.

I need Gaius to die horribly soon, so I resented having to feel bad for him even a little bit, but at least we got to see Uther be all conflicted so there's that. I really liked the dragon going "Gaius? Sorry, can't help you." Dragon is on team DIAF GAIUS.

He didn't even blink! It was just leaping up and getting Merlin out of the door. *loves it omg*

I think you might get your wish - they went fairly hardcore on the 'Gaius is old and fragile' bits in that ep, and it wouldn't surprise me if they did in fact decide either for plot reasons or Richard-Wilson-wants-to-retire reasons to have Gaius DIAF.
