Ornon's sheep

So I was thinking randomly about the mystery of Ornon's sheep instead of sleeping right after reading a book that the Greek god Hermes is in and I had a eureka moment; the myth where Hermes steals apollo's sheep! Here's a link to the myth if interested: http://

gods and goddesses, ornon

Aaah! Lightbulb indeed. That is amazing! Good job.

"Instead of sleeping" hm. That reminds me of something. I should probably go to bed too.

But wow. WOW. I wonder if this is saying something about Ornon/Apollo?

Well, if Ornon turned out to be Gen's older brother, that'd be really weird.

My brother used to tell me this story before bed waaay back before we could read. I think of it every time I read KoA. =] I can just see Ornon whining to Eddis just like Apollo goes to Zeus. Though I can't really see any animal (even if Gen does get along better with sheep/cows better than horses) willingly following Gen anywhere without some kind of divine intervention.

Does anyone else see Gen & Dite parallels in the lyre part of the story?

Whoa, and he's even the god of thieves!

That's a Greek myth I've never heard of before... thanks for sharing!

Wow! I knew that myth...I love Hermes...but I didn't even connect it.
And here I was thinking I was the queen of the subtle legend incorporation. :P
I feel rather...sheepish.
(Had to be done)

NICE.

From the link: "His Roman name was Mercury."

From KoA: "... her queen danced like a flame in the wind, and the mercurial king like the weight at the center of the earth."

Great find. Thanks for sharing!
