I was never sure that was Galen. Would Eddis send her palace physician out into the field with the troops like that? Granted, all her ministers were there, so it's possible. But surely there are other physicians? Maybe it was a military doctor.

Who else would Gen be comfortable enough with to rest his head against the guy's shoulder? Gen doesn't often let down his guard with people, but I can see him doing so with Galen.

(does that make sense? it seems to need editing, but I'm not sure how)

Galen out with the troops? The rest of her court was there, why not Galen?

I can just see Eddis rattling around in an empty palace while everybody else is off with Gen...

Good point that we don't know it's Galen, Checkers, but I have to go with Peggy on this one; I automatically assumed it was Galen because of the trust Gen showed.

Come to think of it, the scene with Galen is a bit reminiscent of the part in KoA where Gen is injured and Attolia comes down the stairs and Gen lays his head on her shoulder. Minus the kiss, of course. :)

I think you mean QoA, not KoA, but cool observation, Leslie! (Cute picture, too! I think I had that same outfit in fourth grade.)

Oops, yes, QoA. I've just finished re-reading both of them and am going back and picking out bits and scenes to read again.

I loved that outfit. My mom made it (the pantsuit part at least) and it was soft red corduroy and so comfortable!

I think it's Galen too - Gen seems to totally let down all of his defences with the doctor who is in the tent with him and it doesn't seem like he does that with very many people. Maybe just his father, Eddis, the Magus a little bit and of course Galen.

I also love that scene because it shows Attolia that Gen is still fragile and that his bones ache too.

And Gen's just been suffering agonies with his cuff, and yet, after freezing and then looking sick, he is able to speak with her politely without any expression in his voice or in his face.

I'll bet that made her feel absolutely awful.
