µ-Ziq - "Hasty Boom Alert"

With the Drexciya tune being thoroughly shat on a few rounds back, I thought about what may be more respected and easily appreciated and came up with this track. It's got a damn catchy synth hook to begin with, and that hip hop-style drum break at the end is nuts, too. It's probably not thee best track off of Lunatic ( Read more... )

My music teacher at a program I took 2 summers ago pretty much single-handedly introduced me to all electronic music ever. At the time, it was pretty overwhelming, and a lot of artists he introduced me to I hardly even remember. But among the endless piles of IDM he lumped on me, µ-Ziq was definitely among the few artists who stuck out from the beginning. I'd probably give higher marks to a track with a bit less drumsterbation ("56" or "Melancho" or somethin), but all said good track, and nice play on the Drexciya.

that synth hook is infectious. this track doesn't get in your face as heavily, and i appreciate that approach. though i love when tracks do melt your brain, this one was just right for this morning.

Kinda grows on you, doesn't it? There's an equally entrancing synth line in "Secret Stair pt. 1".

Glad you like it. With the exception of one or two tracks, the album is fantastic.

i'm kind of in the same boat as unskilledlabor, i really don't want to shit all over what everyone seems to think is a good thing, but i've listened to this at least 20 times over the past few days and still think it's only ok. the only thing here that really gets me going are the two instances of the soul breakbeat. i'm partially convinced that this is squarepusher's "beep street" played in reverse, and along those same lines, i quickly grew tired of that song being the only track on hard normal daddy that anyone ever payed attention to, and my reaction is the same here: it's a good song, but i don't really think it deserves all the hype.
