Nicely written, and leaves you with a similar sense of uncertainty about the implications as Sam's.

I'm beginning to really enjoy this fandom's fic. :-) (Not much of a slash reader, so I'm glad some gen is turning up!)

Thank you! I'm really pleased to hear that - it was what I was aiming for, but you never know if you've pulled it off for other people as well as yourself.

I do read / write slash as well as gen, but this fandom has so much brilliant potential for gen pieces - I hope there'll be lots more of them as well.

To be fair...

I read, and write, some slash, too. I'm just really, really picky about pairings. There's only two or three pairings in all of my fandoms I've ever really found believable and could enjoy, even in fandoms where the overwhelming majority of fic is slash. And in Life On Mars, I just don't see a lot of slash potential. Do Sam and Gene have chemistry? Yeah, sort of. But it's not slashy chemistry, at least not to me.

Maybe I'm just weird. ;-)

(If I *did* enjoy LoM slash I'd probably use the above icon for it, although it's a Farscape icon... *g*)

Which is quite fair enough :-) Wouldn't fandom be boring if everyone saw the same things in it? Personally I do see slashy chemistry between Sam and Gene, but I also love their chemistry in a gen way, so I can certainly see where you're coming from.

(Hee - that is an excellent icon! (And it reminds me, must finish watching those Farscape DVDs) But hey, cop porn doesn't just have to be slash - it could be het too. *g*)

You know my views on it - I think it's brilliant! I think you've got Gene just right - I mean he of all people would figure something about Sam's story didn't add up and would work some kind of theory out about him. His gut instinct and all that. :o)
