He had arrived early to work that morning and was pleasantly surprised by Nanao's e-mail waiting for him, announcing the flowers she had bought. Jyuushirou had been longing for some color, so he'd been over to her office and picked up a nice flower to put on his desk ( ... )

For some reason, Kuukaku couldn't stop her smile. Maybe it was just because Jyuushirou meant it. Most people just smiled because it was nature, but he seemed to do it because he was pleased. Such a nice guy. Smiling back, Kuukaku stepped through the entry way carefully and grabbed a seat.

"Thanks for getting me out of that cafe," she said with a small grin. The idea of bringing tea to someone to get out of the shop was brilliant to her.

Running her palm over the fleshy bit of right arm she had left, she glanced at the window. The cold always made it hurt, so did rain. But the ache was gone momentarily as she crossed her long legs in front of her. "Have you been feeling better lately?"

She asked out of politeness and general curiosity. Kuukaku sometimes worried about his health. It fluctuated so much, and she didn't like anyone being in pain or sick. The idea made her feel so terrible, an emotion she hardly expressed. But in her opinion she suffered enough pain for everyone in the office.

Jyuushirou stepped over to his desk and sank down into the chair. While most offices seemed to have an intimidating feeling to it, there was really only calmness in this room. Calmness and a hint of sorrow ( ... )

Kuukaku laughed after nodding at the man. "I got to say, I missed it here too." She leaned into the back of the chair comfortably as they moved on from his health. He didn't want to dwell on it clearly, and she didn't want to make him hurt more than he might have already ( ... )

Jyuushirou sipped his tea, watching Kuukaku as she spoke. He was thankful that she did not dwell on his health, since he was a proud man and never liked talking about it.

Discreetly taking the pills he had picked out, he then nodded as she said she'd been away to smooth things out with her parents. By her look, he figured it had not gone well. She was their child, should they not just be happy they didn't lose another?

Noticing her upset gesture, Jyuushirou gave her a very concerned look, moved his chair a bit closer and scooted a pack of tissues to her side of the desk.

"Kuukaku-san...?" He said softly, genuinely worried about the woman; this was not her usual behavior and he wondered if it had been that bad... or was it something else?

At his prompting by her name, Kuukaku blinked and turned her focus on the man. "It's nothing," she said quickly. However, she snatched up a tissue and held it in her hand. Her thumb rubbed at it in her palm until her nail ripped a hole in it. She just folded it over and continued to rub at it as if it made her feel better.

"They told me they want Ganju to come home, and that I'm never to see them again." The one-armed woman spoke flatly as her jaw was set, staring at the ground. Her visage was so unlike the usual fun and almost maniac-like smile on her lips, it was rather upsetting. Kuukaku wasn't sure if she should tell Jyuushirou she had gone off of the deep-end while there. She was almost positive Kaien wouldn't be pleased with how his sister had acted, but she only acted strong. Everyone had their weaknesses, Kuukaku's was her family and self-esteem.

"Never to see them again?!" The chairman's words were a bit louder then he had intended, and he was very shocked.

Never to see her family again? For what? The accident? Something else? They were family... how could they say such a thing? He shook his head and very gently patted her shoulder - a strange movement, perhaps, but he did not mean it to be a degrading gesture in any way - just a comfort.

"What on earth happened?" Jyuushirou asked, looking at her worriedly. "They cannot be serious...?" This was their child, after all. They'd already lost one... why push away another?
