Characters: Unohana Retsu and Urahara Kisuke Location: The lovely doctor's office Date: Friday, January 11, 2008 - late afternoon Rating: NC-17 Summary: Kisuke goes for a drug test and...
Friday. It seemed to have taken forever to get there, and yet, at the same time, too fast. Construction was still going on in the medical and research building, and slowly but surely the mess was being cleaned up. That did not stop the constant noise from reaching her, or the pounding headache that seemed to go with it. Added on top of that a meeting with her favourite person in the whole world, Ryuuken, Retsu was in a simply wonderful mood. At least Rangiku's blank face that slowly turned to confusion she could handle.
Had he been worried? Retsu pondered that as the hours ticked away into minutes, and she could not help but smirk. In its own strange way, messing with Kisuke was fun. He had stuck his nose into her past anyway, allowing Retsu to retaliate in the same manner, though trying to find out stuff about him was like wading through molasses. You did not get far and just got messy

Light eyes fell upon Unohana Retsu as she calmly removed her glasses and lent back in that (rather interesting) chair of hers. Like the eye of a storm, all eerie calm and poise. Yet Kisuke knew very well what it felt to be caught up in the other side to the sweet sensei - the swirling tide of emotions bubbling beneath the surface, the lust, the pointed anger..
That expertly hidden darker side to Retsu, which he had to admit, had so far... kept him hooked. Not many people matched his cloaking of a truer clandestine nature, and he had been made privy to the fact that there was a lot more to the peaceful clinician than was immediately apparent. It really was such a buzz that he was being allowed to view facets of her personality which hardly anyone else had had the privilege of witnessing. Such as right now, she was playing with him, of that he was sure. Random drug tests, indeed. She was almost fearless in her quiet challenges.
Is it really such an oddity, a sin even, for two individuals to be having so much fun

He was one of few people who could continually slip under that guard she had. While she was not the type of woman to rant or to rave, there were, on occasions, circumstances that could set her off. For the most part, they were well known. If you messed with her staff, and Retsu found out, it was not a pretty sight. Of course, that did not stop people from flushing poor Hanatarou's head down the toilet, though if caught, the pleasure from watching her dorky little assistant flounder really was not worth it. Yet, time after time, with almost an alluring charm, did Kisuke manage to set her off her nice little pedestal and break that frightening calm. Of course, he had never seen her truly angered. Flustered, perhaps, for he did have a way of doing that to people

Who had the upper hand at this particular moment in time, Kisuke could not quite hazard out an answer to that question. Most situations he placed himself in, the outcome would suit him regardless. Yet, with Retsu.. upon occasion.. the actual events leading to the outcome didn't go exactly as he anticipated. Not that that was a particularly a bad thing, for he would get awful bored if everything went precisely as he envisaged all the time~ Of course, being called his favoured name by the sometimes-not-oh-so-proper doctor, and gleefully experiencing situations as she steadily succumbed to his charms were all par of the course that he had begun to anticipate back in the previous year. The persistence with which she was trying to delve into his past however was not so expected, after all, Kisuke kept such things secret for a good reason.. a very good reason

She had yet to see him back down. Not that Retsu did not believe that at times he could, for surely everyone, at some point in their life, did. Even she had, from time to time, confronted an obstacle that was simply far too large for her to tackle, and graciously had she withdrawn. Yet, with him, she somehow doubted that he would go down without a fight. Indeed, he did seem to be one who was quite willing to get a few bumps and bruises if it were all in the name of the game. It was with that keen, calm, and precise intellect that Retsu allowed her eyes to follow his movements. The ball was currently in her court, for she knew that Kisuke surely must have been scrambling around these last few days, and of course he would take one of the last days possible to take his own test. While she would not admit it, she had sat in her office pondering exactly what he would try to do to fool her medical mind. If there was one thing about Retsu, she took being a doctor very seriously, as anyone who even knew the slightest bit about her was aware
