AMERICAN WEST. MONUMENT VALLEY.

When you are driving along the road of the Arizona desert, suddenly you see something like a mirage, a fabulous city with ancient castles and bizarre figures ... "Castle", "Mittens", "The three Sisters", "Mother Superior", "Hatch", such associative names were given to unusual natural sculptures.

A long time ago, in the Mesozoic era, the shallow sea was splashing here, where sandstone deposits were deposited. Over time, the earth's crust keeping risen and there a plain with dissected single rocks gradually formed.

Monument Valley (Navajo: Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii, meaning valley of the rocks) is one of the national symbols of the United States and a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. The valley lies within the territory of the Navajo Nation Reservation. The indigenous people consider these places as sacred and do not welcome people with cameras and tourists here. From this shooting angle there are no pictures, except this rare photo.

And some photographs showing how the author of the art photography, Sergey Melnikoff, a.k.a. MFF, was working on this photo.
