Summary: When they were first partnered, it was amongst a dark, eerie song played on piano keys. But what about when they had first met?
Author's Notes: A look into how exactly Maka and Soul may have actually met. Fic is based on musings taken from various points within manga, which I will explain later should anyone wish for me to do so. Oh, and by the way: my first attempt at a Soul Eater fanfic. XP

Prologue: A Matter of Trust
“I don’t trust you.”
Funny how easy it was for her to say those words- her, Maka Albarn, the one who used to trust others so naturally. But the one in front of her was male, and all men are cheaters unworthy of receiving such a thing from her.
Her papa had taught her that.
She could be anywhere right now- anywhere but in this room filled with a piano and hung with picture frames, anywhere but with this suited up, crimson-eyed boy who was raising an eyebrow at her in the most nonchalant, annoying way possible.
So why was she here in the first place- with him?
Guess everything from before was building up to this: the angry glances, the imminent friction, the times when they actually got along…
And the first time they had actually met.
