Weapon Seeking Meister - Open (as much as it pains him to admit it)storm_flameFebruary 22 2010, 00:42:12 UTC
After sleeping off the fatigue he experienced from finally transforming into his weapon form for the first time, Gokudera only thought it appropriate to attend the hyped up shindig he had heard so much about.
As he made his way to the cafe, he eyed the others warily before settling on the dessert spread. With a blink, he noticed the whole tray of cannoli. He hadn't had one of those since he left Italy. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. Snatching one up once he was close enough, he bit down into the pastry and closed his eyes, trying to deny just how much he missed the damned thing. However.. within a few moments, he had successfully inhaled it, and he was left with nothing to occupy himself with.
Now it was just awkward. It was like going to some single's meet-and-greet, only.. not. That probably would have been LESS awkward. Plucking another one of the treats off of the tray, he continued eying the crowd, trying to see if there was anyone he'd be interested in taking long walks on the beach with.
Heather had a raspberry ice tea and was currently focusing on ignoring the cigarette cravings that always accompanied such drinks as she roved the crowd without really looking for anyone. Her current stress level did nothing to appease the silent need, but there was enough distraction in people watching alone. The teen wasn't sure why she was here, really, because she didn't intend to fight against that Demon thing that Shibusen was going on about. Maybe it was because she had never been allowed to socialize much in her life, never had time to get close to people her own age, or anyone else for that matter
( ... )
His thought process is difficult to follow. D: I apologize.storm_flameFebruary 22 2010, 19:18:07 UTC
Ohshitohshitohshitohshit.
While Gokudera was trying to be more social.. he never had any practice with someone talking to HIM. People.. at least, where HE came from.. tended to shy away from him. He didn't exactly look the part of a friendly, outgoing guy. So.. all of his life, he played into it. And enjoyed being left alone. However, the Tenth DID want him to talk to people. Just.. he never had practice with the reverse.
Instead of taking a nervous nibble at the corner of the pastry (like so many people seemed to do when they were nervous), Gokudera shoved half of the thing into his mouth in order to buy himself some time. He needed to prepare just what he could say. However.. the girl seemed to have the same thoughts as he did. Maybe it wouldn't be so hard. At least he thought she had the same thoughts as he did. He had never BEEN to a junior high dance. He could only assume it equated to social gatherings his father organized for other Mafia families when he was little. Not that he would open up THAT much information
( ... )
The teen gave a little chuckle that didn't quite make it past her throat. Laughter wasn't something that she had given into for a long time, and it took a moment for the good-humored noise to leave her lips. The result was that the laugh sounded a bit forced, but Heather's expression was clearly amused.
"You were in Japan?" She asked, sounding slightly interested. Heather's careworn face made her look slightly tired, but her eyes were lit with contrasting curiosity.

[...well, there were worst ways to go about this, right? He hadn't dared ask Xanxus how the hell he'd found himself a partner - which he hadn't yet met, properly, and god, that was just another stab of annoyance in his gut - but he had a feeling he didn't really want to know. And besides, he was short on time, he wanted to join the fun in the upcoming battle, and he'd need to find someone to wield him if he wanted to.
He just hoped he found someone who wasn't an idiot, it was enough to feed his neurosis to know he needed a partner and that someone was going to be using him. If only it had been Xanxus, it might have been at least... bearable. For a while.
So he sulked in his corner, nibbling on the only thing he saw that didn't seem like it was going to give him instant cavities, and watched around, waiting.]
[ it could have been worse. It could have been far worse. Perhaps, in Squalo's instance, it had just gotten worse, for who was that, walking into the cafe? None other than one (1) Yamamoto Takeshi.
He'd told that man that he would try to find a suitable partner in time, and if there was one thing Yamamoto tried to keep to, it was his word. The get-together was a grand time to find that Weapon, too, so why waste such a good opportunity?
It was his fortune, then (and Squalo's possible misfortune) that he recognized that head of pale, pale hair. Smile spreading across his face, he raised his hand as if in greeting, waving as he started toward the swordsman. Hark, the laughter heralding his approach. ]
[The rule of thumb, when dealing with... particularly infuriating morons of the obtuse, WHY-DON'T-YOU-GET-IT variety was to ignore them. Squalo figured that there was absolutely no reason why not to apply the same strategy with obtuse, infuriating morons of the Japanese variety. It wasn't even that he didn't like the kid - well, okay, he didn't like him, but that was mostly because his laughter was grating - and he wasn't bitter per se, it was just too damn soon to be dealing with the brat after that fight, and he'd been looking forward to not seeing him again ever in at least a year or two. Not in a week.
At least the coffee wasn't terrible, and he fully intended to drown his woes in it. He was not going to smoke another cigarette. No. No more. Oh god. Squalo drank his coffee and pretended that, in the noise of the hall, he hadn't heard Yamamoto's call. If he was lucky, the brat would take the hint and go away.]
[ He was glad, was all, knowing that the man was still alive. Months later, and he still worried for the man and his well-being. The bitterness of that 'victory' still hadn't completely faded (and even knowing the man was well and kicking didn't do much to diminish the aftertaste). Perhaps he was a little more expressive about his relief than most, but hey. That was just how he was.
So that, even in the face of the man's acknowledgement (or notable lack thereof), Yamamoto remained undaunted. In fact, it only served to egg him on a little more, and he smiled a most brilliant smile once he reached Squalo's table. ]
I didn't expect to see you here. Are you looking for a partner too?
[Naoto returns from the bathroom, straightening her hat and coat as she approaches Raidou. She seems a little nervous, though only someone who can sense her moods would be able to pick it out through her calm demeanor. Her dark eyes are cool and her expression neutral as ever.
The youth swallows a bit self-consciously as she stops next to her partner. It still feels distinctly unusual for Naoto to recall that she has a partner. It seems particularly strange considering this partnership has not been born of their mutual occupation as detectives, but rather from a supernatural condition that Naoto still wouldn't consider fact if she hadn't experienced it first hand
( ... )
[The younger detective nods briefly, looking around for a spot to sit in the busy cafe. She swallows again, looking somewhat like a nervous cat; her back is straight with faint discomfort, her eyes roving a bit too much among the numerous people to be a natural curious gesture.
Her eyes catch on Maka and Soul's trust demonstration and she stares at their actions with puzzled bemusement. For the moment, she stops looking for a place to sit.]
What...are they doing?
[She asks quietly, not really intending her partner to hear.]
meister seeking failure. have fun trying to resonate with this fool.vendicaiFebruary 22 2010, 00:55:46 UTC
[Tim, wearing normal civvies for once, skulks into the cafe, trying not to be noticed. It wasn't that he didn't want a partner; he knew it would help, especially considering the fact that he's one of the few people well trained in battle. But he wasn't feeling very social, and really, he wouldn't have shown up if not for the fact that it was a great place to gain some information.
Looking around, he slid into a seat, listening to the goings on around him and taking mental notes of important information.]
Y hallo thar, bb.kidkittyclawsFebruary 22 2010, 01:46:16 UTC
[She wasn't sure why she was here, actually. There did not appear to be a pressing need for her presence, and she already had a partner...
Nevertheless, her Meister had Strongly Encouraged her to go, and had mentioned Ash a lot, for some reason. So, there she was. Looking around. Wondering what to do and how long she had to stay before she went off to train.]
ahhhh laura!! <3vendicaiFebruary 22 2010, 03:03:21 UTC
[His attention was caught by a rather uncomfortable looking girl; the way she moved was defensive, different from the other civilians in the café. Interest perked, Tim watched her out of the corner of his eye for a moment, before clearing his throat and waving at her.]
You look a little lost. Don't want to be here, I'm assuming?
No interest in BEING his partner.storm_flameFebruary 22 2010, 01:10:55 UTC
[He stops from devouring his second cannoli mid-bite, almost choking on what was in his mouth to begin with. What the hell was Mukuro doing here? Gokudera wasn't aware the freak LIKED social settings. Not that he really did, either, but.. what?]
You seem entirely too happy to be at a meet-and-greet.
ooc|| Hope ya don't mind, but I wanted Gokudera to meet at least ONE Vongola-type-member face to face. D:

Social gatherings are M.O.s that I am unfamiliar with, in the absence of a mission.
