[Neji & Lain | Emitter | Closed]heavenly_earthJanuary 15 2012, 21:10:38 UTC
[Locating the emitter was a simple matter; getting there however, proved difficult. Even through Lain's cloaking ability, it was a matter of avoiding kishin eggs and fighting pairs alike- weaving between opposition in a chaotic city wrought with conflict.
They take the long way around, fighting mostly just the bitter cold and wind as they dodge the kishin in pursuit of their target. He feels the Madness touch his mind like the falling snow- brief and light, as the flakes melt upon contact and nothing sticks.
There's a Calming agent standing by, deep in concentration as they counter the Madness Wavelength with their own. Neji made a note to thank them personally later as he ducked down into the hollowed ground where they'd traced the emitter to]
Alright, this should be it. How close do you need to be, Lain?
[For her the madness is like a blanket. In some ways it's comforting and warm; all she wants is to give in and let it envelop her completely. But at the same time she can feel it like a suffocating grip.
Its the presence of the agent that keeps her thoughts focused enough, that and Neji's wavelength that smoothes and envelops over hers. She's been quiet this whole time--both she and Bold, gathering themselves and keeping their minds as far from the madness as she could.
Neji's question, however, rouses them again. She doesn't speak a moment, transforming back into her human form, her hand firmly clasped in her partner's.
Despite the exhaustion of fighting off the madness (she could feel it still, even with the agent there, looming against the edges of her mind), her expression and the lines of her body are determined, strong]
A little closer. I need to get my hands on it; I'll get the outside first so I can get inside it.
[She glances to Neji then, not entirely used to being in charge of what they'll do, even if this is her area
( ... )
[Neji nods, stepping forward then stopping like he expects a reaction. His eyes strain to see nebulous threads of energy he'd normally have no issue with recognizing.
He leashes a few kunai from within his sleeve, spearing into different directions and burying themselves into the walls. He waits, hand firmly holding Lain back from rushing in just in case. Nothing. He moves forward again and prods the emitter itself with an edge of a shuriken before he deems it safe enough, then glances around as Lain gets to work]
They're either overconfident, careless, or were in a great rush to leave a device like this unprotected. Though it doesn't appear as though blunt force trauma would have much effect, it's still a poor defense.
[closed | Kei and Ryuuji ]jerkisjerkJanuary 16 2012, 17:16:36 UTC
[The moment they arrived Ryuuji could already feel that this one was going to be bad, worse than what there had been during that mall incident in December.
Muttering a curse under his breath the onmyouji drew his jacket tighter around his body and turned to his partner.]
Re: [closed | Kei and Ryuuji ]leaf_of_lightJanuary 17 2012, 13:35:23 UTC
[Kei looked in a rather concentrated look to the view] [Even without his abilities of sensing Leafe, he could feel it]
[This was how he always pictured the real world if the princess of disaster won, cold, ruined]
[The pained look is masked with cold determination] [He takes from his jacket the map of the area, trying to determine which was the best places to place traps, and perhaps the best place for them to make their stand]
With this blizzard we won't manage to use much of your skills. [He says in cold detachment] Considering the numbers, we need to be careful to not attract more than we can manage.
[Kei moves is arms in order to Ryuuji see the map as well] [He folds it in four then, showing a specific area on it] [A bridge]
That case, there is these two bridges... but I think this one is more appropriate, since it's narrower and it would be easier to get rid of the excess of opponents. [He moves the map]
This one is wider, but has the advantage that it's construction makes it less likely to collapse... [Because things tend to colapse when they work together] And because of the arc structure we would have the advantage of higher ground.
[He looks at Ryuuji, waiting to hear his opinion in which one to pick]
[Mello and Near | closed]want_the_worldJanuary 17 2012, 04:05:26 UTC
[Mello's still in a bad mood after being stood up the evening before, even if Rochefort did leave a message to let him know. At this point, he's mostly pissed at Near for being so smug about it.
It's fucking cold; Mello's breath steams out, and he has his hands jammed into the pockets of the borrowed coat, but he's determined not to shiver.
He's just as determined not to let the madness wavelength take him this time, even though he can feel it at the edges of his consciousness, like a creeping darkness trying to steal over him.]
[Near, on the other hand, is still feeling a little bit smug about it all. It was a small victory, somewhat, to know Mello and Lili hadn't met the day before, and given that he had been very reluctant to come on this mission-- more reluctant than ever, really-- he decided he'd take whatever pleasure he could get from yesterday's events.
He doesn't care if his own shivers are noticeable or not; it's a normal physiological response to low temperature, after all. He adjusts the scarf around his neck both to keep the cold air out and as a distraction, something to keep his hands busy as he tries to assess the situation and realize just how strong the madness wavelength is.]
Of course I am.
[As ready as he could ever be, given the nature of this mission and how he was nearly dragged by the hair into it
( ... )
[Mello catches Near as naturally as ever after he transforms, which should assuage the buzzing nervousness he feels, but doesn't. He's just as aware as Near that this is a dangerous mission, a test like the one they faced the last time they went into a battle.
A test like the one Mello failed.
He won't fail this time. He can't. He'll prove he can fight the madness wavelength, and that Lili isn't a problem--he knows she's on the twit's mind, wouldn't have missed that even without resonance.
He starts solving sides, muttering a curse under his breath at how the gloves make him clumsy, and finishes just in time to take aim at two Kishin eggs making for them.]
[Mello is quite right: Lili is on Near's mind, although her presence in his brain isn't as offending to its synapses as it would have been had the two blondes actually met the day before. No, most of his thoughts are focused on the battle at hand, and on the shift of power as his Meister wields him and prepares to strike, unleashing the attack that was triggered by his quick movements.
That odd feeling of wrongness isn't particularly obvious, but Near can feel the way the madness wavelength tries to infiltrate their resonance and break them apart. It's subtle, barely noticeable, but very much there, and he's been trying to keep it at bay since they arrived to Prague... but it's only getting worse.]
The madness wavelength is stronger than before. We need to focus before it's too late.
["We" and not "you", because even though he knows Mello's the one who had trouble last time, pointing that out right now would be a bit counter productive.]

Can you feel it? The Fear's thick in this place.

Look for either a bridge or a closed space where we can use your abilities without endangering any citizens.
