He wasn't uninspired. He was just lazy. Perfectly normal in a young teenage boy, really. And if he thought Kakashi's behavior as an adult had always been this way, then Gai had a lot to learn in the coming days about his rival
( ... )
Sarah was fully aware of what was going on, but she was content to watch to make certain that they were actually going to go. She wasn't about to jump to conclusions, but she wanted a good show regardless. It would be interesting to watch the cripple make a dash, and she knew Gai enough from training and Watch. He had a good set of legs on him.
She slipped from her spot around a curtain and eased her way into the room, blocking the main exit. Try a window, boys. "Dr. Watson thinks your continual sneaking of injured patients out required intervention," she murmured as she set a hand on her hip.
"Should I tell him your making another attempt or just deal with you myself?" She wasn't technically allowed to hurt Obito, but she wondered how Gai would like having to take up a bed next door to him.
Gai nodded to Obito and was ready to step out when Kerrigan showed up. He contemplated a very cheerful greeting, but he wasn't quite sure she would go for that.
A window might be a good idea. Gai glanced between her and Obito, considering. As this wasn't a mission or of great importance he hadn't been paying a whole lot of attention to who was around, just trying to make sure Watson wasn't around. "Continual? It has only been once! Or twice!" Spirit and Katsura totally didn't count that one time. And Gai didn't count if he was sneaking himself out. Nooooo. Not at all.
"What do you mean by 'deal with me?'" Kerrigan was preferable, really. He liked her, but there was something about Watson that made Gai respect the doctor, and he wasn't sure he wanted to face a disappointed Watson. Plus he'd been curious about sparring with Kerrigan. She seemed quite capable. And who knew. Maybe while they sparred someone could... slip away. "For I am sure Watson would not want to be bothered."
When the woman stepped out from behind the curtain Obito took a step back. He hadn't noticed a change in the chakra to signal a hidden person... And then he remembered again that there wasn't any chakra here and relaxed. He always forgot that little detail, but everything felt so normal even without the presence of chakra that he couldn't help but forget it.
It appeared this wasn't a one-time thing. Gai had really snuck others out of this place before. Crack-up job he was doing this time. Obito's mouth set in an unamused line. Wonderful.
Obito looked between Gai and the woman, starting to feel a little tension. They weren't seriously thinking of fighting in here, were they? "Guys, this is a clinic..." Seriously, if he had to be the one to remind them that this was a bad idea, then who was the real adult in this situation?
