Characters: Spirit, Maka Albarn Location: Maka's place Rating: CUTE Time: December 25 morning, backdate Description: Spirit comes bearing gifts and the herculean effort not to be a stalking daddy. Maka is obviously perfect.
She supposed she should have expected her father early. As much as she was a morning person (kind of), she didn't have the kind of over-excited personality that would let her give that kind of greeting at this house. Besides, she'd been up late last night, Christmas Eve and all.
"Hi Papa," she said. At least she was in a good mood. She'd had a good night, even if it had been long. Maka pulled open the door all the way to let her father in, stepping out of the way.
Might as well get this over with. All she knew was if he'd let Blair shop for her again, he was going to leave with a huge bump on his head.
Oh, Maka was letting him in! Spirit almost tittered -- almost -- and stepped in with all the grace of a long-limbed something carrying twelve hardbound books in a multi-colored box.
"I'm just here to drop off your present," he said sweetly. "Where can I put it?"
"Um, we can go in the living room. I have one for you too, actually."
Soul hadn't exactly told her that she should, but he'd kind of hinted at it, and she'd been thinking of picking up another hobby anyway. It wasn't a big deal, but she might as well give it to him.
She turned away from him without another word and headed down the hall. She was pretty sure he'd be following her about an inch behind anyway.
He did follow her about an inch behind. Or two inches? It was hard to measure with this box in front of his vision. But he followed happily, stunned and dazed and excited that Maka had gotten him something. That was certainly unexpected.
"F-for me?" Spirit gingerly eased the box down on the coffee table, and took two steps back to wait patiently. He seemed to be trying to occupy as little space as necessary.
