L had, despite not wanting a formal job of any kind, grown somewhat bored. Though he secretly kept a "case file" for the overarching mystery of BREW and Death City itself, the sheer scope of such a case was overwhelming for anyone, even the world's three greatest detectives. There was no way to know what kind of headway he'd been able to make when he'd been here before, because his memories of that time had seemingly been absorbed by his brain or lifted straight out of his head by some unknown but very inconvenient force ( ... )

Usually people who acted avoidant or antisocial where the kinds of people others knew to instinctively steer clear of, but Vash never payed too much thought to a silly little thing like that.

Besides. You made friends with cool people by talking to everyone.

"So, what do you think of the new types of missions? Pretty interesting, huh?" Vash asked, grinning broadly and settling next to L before the postings. "Looks like they'll be a pretty nice challenge for people who are more or less partnered up."

L jumped slightly when the blond man addressed him, seeming to need a moment to regain his bearings.

"I... think they're interesting, from what I've seen," he said cautiously, unnerved by the wide grin. "As for a challenge... I wouldn't know. I've never been 'partnered up', so to speak, and the one time I attempted to resonate ended pretty disastrously."

Vash's mind went to the morning he attempted to weild Grit at the daily training session.

"I'm one to one, myself. A bad resonation sure showed me to be grateful for a good one." Vash relaxed, either unaware of or not the least bit bothered by L's unease. He studied the board a little longer. "The tracking mission looks like it could be intresting. Montana's kinda north of here, isn't it? Bet that's gonna be cold!"

The new missions board was something of a taunting reminder that she needed a partner. And yet she couldn't seem to stay away, even if she didn't have an Iggy anymore to keep her on track or to tell her which might benefit her the most - hell, here she only had her gun and past experience without a weapon around. In a way it was like a kick in the ass to get a move on with this whole partnership thing, but well. The sheer matter of her sort of natural anti-social persona kind of put a wrench in the gears.

But that red coat looks familiar as she approaches, giving a little nod of hello.

"Anything interesting with these new postings?"

All kinds of new stuff!" Vash glanced at Re-l and returned the nod with a wide smile. "Looks like they have Shibusen doing some of the local law enforcements, ontop of dealing with all the kishin. They have all kinds of investigations, too"

Vash seemed unduly excited for a man who at this moment, couldn't take any of these assignments. But it was new, it was shiny, and vash was a highly distractable, easily entertained sort of person.

"But they all involve having a partner, right?" Really, a strangely prideful part of her thought she didn't need a partner in order to do law enforcement type missions - considering her prior experience in her home world. But then again - seeing that Witches and Kishin could have taken 004's arm straight off - hm. A little pause and caution couldn't really be all that wounding.

"Looks like it. I guess they're worried running into a rogue kishin is possible." Vash jut looked bummed. He was sure he could do some of these missions single handed pretty easy. He worked mostly alone for almost a century back home.

"This whole relying on a partner thing sure is a pain, isn't it?" Vash asked, but his tone was a little strange for what should have been a normal, good natured gripe. There was something lonely about it, but Vash flashed a quick grin after. "I should tell Neku to start running personal ads in the morning paper! Single, good looking young Meister seeks attractive female weapon not afraid to pack some serious firepower!"

"I don't know, haven't made my mind up but a lot of these missions sure look like they could be intresting!" Vash grinned back. "What do you think about hiking though the snow up in 'Montana'?"

This novelty of frozen water still hadn't wore off for Vash, apparently.

"I dont see why not, unless you'd sink in like quicksand." That actually sounded pretty awful and Vash made a point to mentally cross out that one. He changed gears and tapped one of the Nevada missions.

"Helping defend the supply chain sounds really neat too! And best of all, no kishin!"
