Sasuke was indeed, still in his constant state of turmoil. It wasn't a conscious thought to keep his head down, but he was following the press of footprints into the snow on the sidewalk- less an actual study and more a place for his gaze to go while he sought some kind of silence in his head.

Christmas was the most recent thing on his mind. It had been a strange affair: he'd never expected to see all of Team Seven, with Kakashi, in the same room as Gai and Itachi of all people. And for who was present, it hadn't even been that much of a disaster.

Save the occasional concerned look he'd caught tossed his way. He scowled at the snow, and lifted his head as he heard someone crunching at a jog's pace through the snow behind him. A glance over his shoulder told him who it was, and to even his own surprise, he stopped to wait.

ACK did I just godmod Sasuke's posture?

There was a stitch at his side that didn't have anything to do with his short jog. His stubborn decision to just wait for his injuries to heal on their own instead of bothering the medics (and thus admitting defeat) now felt like a stupid thing to do. But one thing he could be happy about at the moment was Sasuke's gesture of waiting for him, which meant that he was at least receptive of company.

"Can I walk with you?" Kurapika asked without preamble as he drew up alongside the other boy.

Once Kurapika has caught up and level with him, the boy's dark eyes find his face, and he nods only once at his query. Without offering a greeting, or asking how he is, he simply turns and continues walking the way he had been. When was the last time he'd spoken to Kurapika? Europe, he thinks, and then thinks that seems like it was a long time ago.

But emotionally, between their conversation at the fireworks and now, Sasuke almost feels like he's lived another year.

He'd never really walked a Watch patrol route before--was his first thought. The second was that he wasn't quite sure how to bring up the topic of Sasuke and Saralegui separating without sounding like he was just fishing for information. But he shoved his hands into his pockets and rolled his shoulders to raise the high collar of his jacket a bit higher, and kept pace--if he was aiming to keep Sasuke company he could at least help keep watch.
