Characters: Mary, Watson, Nataku, and Sherlock. Location: Sherlock, Watson, and Nataku's place Rating: G Time: Christmas Morning! Description: Mary gets to spend Christmas with friends!
Nataku was not used to sharing a bed with someone. He believed that Kazuki had some memories where she would sleep in her parents' bed, but he could not remember doing so himself. Sleeping on his own was best, because he had a rather erratic sleeping schedule. Even after all the time that he has been in Death City, being without the need for chemicals to keep his body whole, he did not know how to properly rest in a bed. As such, when Mary shifted to get up out of bed, the clone opened his eyes to acknowledge the movement.
It was lucky that he caught sight of her hair first before he lashed out. An immediate response to someone being so close when he was "vulnerable." His arm shifted back to being a human arm rather than the ribbon form. The ribbon had hovered over her head for but a few seconds before it shifted back. "You are awake early. Is there something that I can do for you, Mary?"
Mary turned back to him, speaking softly, "I'm sorry, I tried to not wake you." If she had seen the transformation, she showed no hint of it as she smiled at Nataku, "I just thought it might be nice if I were to cook breakfast for everyone!"
"Why would you wish to do so?" His head gave the smallest of tilts. "You are a guest here and as such, you need not do anything." That was what he had come to understand what it meant to be a guest in someone else's home. Perhaps, he was wrong?
There was a slight beat as he realized that she had apologized to him. He shook his head once, while it was still tilted. "You need not apologize. I was due to awaken eventually, anyway."
"I hope I did not wake you too early then. As for helping with breakfast, I like being helpful. It's polite for a guest to at least offer to help out, and I thought in the spirit of Christmas, it would be nice to surprise Mister Holmes and Doctor Watson with breakfast!"
She brightened, raising a finger as she came up with her idea, "Oh, Nataku, you should come and help me, and we can surprise both of them!"
Watson tended to wake up late -- at least, not very early -- especially on holidays. Today was no exception, though he had woken up more cheerful than usual. He stretched, dressed, and shuffled off to the bathroom before joining the rest of his flat's occupants for breakfast.
"Happy Christmas, my dears!" It almost seemed fatherly to greet the children this way, which pleased Watson to no end. Who would have thought that coming to a different world would provide for him a busy household?
The detective had not gotten up early- nor had he slept in late. He simply had remained awake for the night. A small puzzle had caught his attention but now he knew that at least one family would be having a decent Christmas. He turned from adjusting the heater when he heard his Boswell.
"Happy Christmas, Watson." He eyed the kitchen for a moment before glancing at Watson, "You may wish to tread carefully, Watson. It seems we have an extra guest this morning." Because Nataku bought Mary a small puppy...
"Do we?" he inquired a little sleepily, not making the connection immediately. He was only aware that they were having Mary over, and Nataku had been with them for a while now. Perhaps they should considering moving as a quartet?
The doctor blinked sleepily again and followed his nose. "Is that omelet I smell? I do so love omelet in the mornings."
Holmes simply watched Watson in amusement. Leave it to food to distract his friend. The detective sat on the couch, flopping his feet up on the arm rest. "I believe Miss Hargreaves is making use of the kitchen." He tucked his hands behind his head.
