Jules sincerely hoped that Haru wasn't as eager to get undressed as he seemed, but he ignored that for the time being. If he was to be treated to drinks, he certainly wasn't going to judge his, er, acquaintance, more than necessary.

"Desserts are by definition dry, but not necessarily warm," he felt the need to point out nonetheless as he took the seat across from Haru. "I don't mind it, though, it feels more like home. Thank you for inviting me here, by the by."

"Sounds like you have some experience with them. I always kind of thought they were made up, yanno? With princes and camels and sand as far as the eye can see," Haru never was the brightest -- the living example of why you should finish school. He regarded Jules after he thanked him, and then a bright smile lit up his face.

"It's no problem! You deserve a birthday celebration ~ and if anyone knows how to celebrate in style, it's me! Are you starting off with wine?" He could only assume. Tea over coffee, and wine over actual booze -- that's the type of guy Jules struck Haru as. He'd already mentioned it before -- he's complete opposite.

Rude as it was, he couldn't help but roll his eyes a tad. "No, no, I've just keep up with my reading. I don't get to travel much, so books it is."

It was a little bit sad, but Haru was right -- he wouldn't be doing anything special to celebrate his birthday if this wasn't planned. He couldn't blame Roy and Dojima for being preoccupied by more important things, nor his other acquaintances for not remembering the date which he had barely mentioned, but still, it would be nice if this didn't almost feel like it was his only choice. (Which wasn't to say he didn't like Haru or the prospect of free drinks, just that there were other things he would be more inclined to do in different circumstances."

"How did you know? Yes, I've never been a fan of heavier liquor." (He might be inclined to try fancy mixed drinks as the night went on, though.)

"Lucky guess," Haru winked. He supposed there was some truth in that stereotype about French in their wine. But that was where Haru's stereotypes ended because he wasn't sure which they preferred or if they even had a preference. But he did know his wine -- and that it came in many different colors and flavors. "So what kind? I'll go get it, and something for me, annnnd a little extra something for you."

He reached in the pocket of his coat, pulling out his wallet (with how tight his pants were, there was no way anything was fitting in them -- it was surprising even he did). "It's not a birthday unless you try something new."
