Squalo was busy sneering quietly at the papers in front of him. He had worked through quite a bit of of paperwork, and he found a strange solace in doing it. It wasn't exactly mindless, but it was a routine, tedious job that required, at most basic reading comprehension, which he was quickly realizing most people seem to lack around here. That, and people had horrible handwriting that rendered half of what they did utterly unreadable. He finished a transcript just as Lightning approached. "Please." She snorted in response, drawing the chair over to be in his general vicinity with enough table room to write her report. If she wanted to chat, she could go elsewhere. This was just work.
Admittedly, work with some socializing, but she didn't want to think on it. Her eyes and attention drawn to the paper, she began writing and made a point of ignoring him.

There were worse people to consider for a partnership, and one who made faces at his paperwork wasn't enough to deter her. In fact, she mused, glancing every now and then at his desk to see his progress, so long as he was able to remain professional, Light had no qualms about it.
Rereading her report and signing the bottom, she moved onto another sheet for requisitions.
