Today had been one of those good days. Marlene glanced at her present and smiled. While she didn't have the opportunity to give Cloud's friend his gift the night before, she thought that maybe, she would have the chance now.

Search high was her first thought, and she wandered up the floors of the building, checking each one for a sign of black and silver. She was careful with the stairs though and eventually, she found herself on the roof.

"Wow," she said, eyes wide as she looked up at the sky. From up here, it looked so wide and expansive, it almost felt like she could just fall into it.

He was broken by his thoughts as the sound of the door opened up behind him. It had been so long since someone else had attempted to find solace on the rooftop that Sephiroth had almost forgotten that others did sometimes venture up here. His muscles tensed in response for he knew that whoever it was wasn't Cloud.

Glancing back over his shoulder, he sighted the familiar child as she stepped into view. Judging by her appearance, it didn't yet seem as though she had caught sight of him. There was some part of him that wanted to take advantage of that and simply disappear over the edge of the building, but his dedication to Cloud kept him fixated where he was as he softly murmured, "I somehow believe that Cloud would be displeased to find you in such a dangerous location."

in which she totally forgot he said something. notaflowergirl September 22 2011, 13:49:30 UTC
She heard his voice first, though she wasn't sure that it was a voice. But that sound made Marlene look down and wince in disorientation. Looking up at the sky was certainly different from looking at things normally that it was unexpectedly hard to regain her bearings.

Determinedly, she shook it off and approached Sephiroth, stopping once she was close enough.

"Here, before I forget," she said with a smile, offering a small, wrapped package that fit the palm of her hand. "It's your present."

Sephiroth stood there quietly while the child reacted to his words. He had hoped that she wouldn't be so foolish as to approach the building's edge, but from what little he knew of her, Sephiroth doubted she would.

His muscles tensed as she approached. Uncertain to what she was wanting, the ex-General regarded her cautiously before she held her hand out. His gaze dropped down to whatever she was holding, and the explanation caused a slender brow to raise in question.

A... present...?

Sephiroth blinked slowly, as if he thought his mind was playing tricks on him, while he regarded the child quietly. "I have done nothing to warrant such a thing," he murmured softly. The truth be told, Sephiroth wasn't quite certain what to make of all of this. Why did she get him such a thing when there were others far more worthy of such things?
