Description: Upon being returned to Death City by BREW, Rufus makes his way back to his apartment to let them know he's back (and also for a good night's sleep!)

Asch had been pitter-pattering around the apartment; it was almost dinner time, and was making dinner. Rufus could probably smell the usual delicious aroma that always emitted from their apartment whenever Asch made any sort of food.

When he heard the knocking, he called out to the door, saying that he would just be a moment, before putting down the oven mitts, and striding over to the door. When he opened the door, his eyebrow raised, not expecting to see Rufus at the door, looking a little worse for wear (why he was wrapped up in bandages he didn't know, but he intended to find out).

"Well. So nice of you to finally show up."

While Asch was playing housewife, Reno was leaving his own apartment to go harass the other redhead for food. That, naturally, changed when he spotted Rufus. Reno stopped in his doorway, taking in the suit and the bandages.

Fuck.

"Sir?"

Just as Rufus had opened his mouth to reply to Asch, the door had opened behind him. He turned, relieved to see Reno there. Relieved, and a little angry, though he hid it well, Rufus nodded his head. He understood now, of course, why the redhead had been reluctant to tell him more details. If it had been Reno with the fatal disease, Rufus didn't think he'd be able to bring himself to say anything either.

"BREW sent me home," he explained, looking from Asch to Reno, ignoring his relief at seeing both of them still here. "I only just got back."

He hoped neither of them would ask what had happened while he was gone. The thought of explaining it was honestly painful. Admitting to his weaknesses had never been one of Rufus's strong points.

Hope all you want, Rufus, but Asch’s too curious for his own good. Stepping aside silently to let him in, Asch thought out what he was going to say, and how to say it.

“So you did go home, then.” Asch paused for a moment, before, “What happened?”

He made a gesture to the bandages. There was no way he could ignore those.

Reno and Rufus in the Apartment

Reno headed back inside without a word, making sure the door wouldn't hit Rufus before turning to face him.

"I have one question, then I'll shut up. How long, sir?"

Rufus didn't answer until the door was shut and locked. He gave Reno a bit of an icy look as he took a step forward and practically tripped over... something.

What was that? Rufus bent down to pick it up, noted the name on the tag, and stared at it for a long moment before glancing up at Reno. He knew that name. What an... interesting thought. Rufus wasn't sure how he felt about it. Poker face on, he blinked at the Turk and held up the headband.

"I could ask the same of you."

...Fuck. Reno made sure to show no emotion. Thank the Planet for poker faces.

"The night before you left," he replied honestly. "She's been over a lot. No sex, just drinks." And half-naked make-outs but still. No sex. "Now, how long, sir?"

"You've been getting a girl drunk in your apartment and you haven't made a move on her?"

It was a tone of stubborn disbelief. Rufus wasn't going to answer his question until he was satisfied he had all the important information he needed from Reno to make a decision about this.
