The blanket cocoon is warm, and every morning evening she has to force herself out of it. Wasting time is her least favorite thing. Of course, the frequent nightmares of Alternian society and the slaughter involved help. No one wants to see that when they shut their eyes.

But today is different. Today she wakes up earlier than usual out of a strange yet familiar instinct. She knows there is a reason for it and when the knock comes, everything makes sense. She glances toward her moirail to make sure he hasn't been disturbed and quietly opens the door.

What she sees is the one and only Knight of Time, Dave Strider. Though tired, she smiles at him brightly. "Hello, Dave!" It's a hushed exclamation (waking Sollux is not a good idea), and she opens the door wider for him to enter. "Come in, I was just waking up."

He really shouldn't be this nervous about visiting Aradia. Dave's met her before - she's actually the only troll he's bother to meet with, the only one he seeks out during times of trouble - and she's a pleasant enough person. A far cry from Karkat and his constant grouchy bullshit, that was for sure. He really doubted that she cared about his eye color, but it didn't make him any less nervous anyway.

Still, when she opens the door, he glances up out of habit more than anything. The expression on his face is still one of carefully measured neutrality, lips continuously pressed into a line. He acknowledges her presence with a quick nod. "Hey. Sup Aradia?"

He strides through the door as she indicates, no hesitation in his movements. Yep. He's totally okay with this. "Sure. Thanks for having me, I guess. Sorry if-- wait, hold up, were you taking a nap or some shit, Aradia? A little shut eye between flittering about from place to place? Some shit like that?"

Shit, it's lie a fucking buffet of knowledge and I'm the chump waiting for them to refill the line. But nocturnal's cool. Not like I'm not up half the night anyway ( ... )
